Athletics

Our sports season will kick off shortly after the start of the new school year.  The sports seasons run as follows:

Sept. – Oct.: Girls Volleyball & Boys Flag Football

Oct. – Dec.: Girls Basketball & Boys Soccer

Jan. – Mar.: Girls Soccer & Boys Basketball

Mar. – May: Co-ed Cross-Country, Co-ed Track & Field, & 8th Grade Co-ed

MHUSD requires that all volunteers working on school grounds on a regular, ongoing basis have their fingerprints,  tuberculosis test results on file, and verification of Covid-19 vaccination at the Morgan Hill Unified School District office.

Any parents who wish to volunteer for the sports program must have a badge issued by the District Office indicating that you have completed the fingerprinting process and have your Covid-19 Vaccination verified, and have been approved to help at our school.  This includes parent drivers who help us get players to and from games.  Please see above for information on how to receive your badge.

_{What is the definition of a school volunteer?}

A volunteer is any caring adult in the student’s life or a member of our local community who willingly and freely gives their time, regardless of frequency and duration, to support educational programs. Morgan Hill Unified values volunteers and the positive contributions they make to our schools and programs.

_{What are examples of volunteer opportunities?}

Volunteer opportunities may fall into any of the following categories:

• Ongoing: Volunteering for any school program regularly in any capacity

• As-needed: Volunteering on school grounds, in the office, or in the classroom one time or intermittently

• Face-to-face: Volunteering with direct contact with students, either under the supervision of an employee or, at times, as the sole adult supervising students (i.e., during a field trip, going to the library, leading a club, etc.) 

• School-sponsored trips: Athletics, band, field trips, science camp, etc. either as a driver or as a chaperone

Interested volunteers will complete and submit a volunteer packet directly to the school to learn more about the opportunities available at that site. Prior to volunteering, all prospective volunteers must be cleared through Human Resources:

       Effective September 17, 2022
Prospective volunteers will bring the following items to Human Resources:

• Driver's License, California ID, Permanent Resident Card, or Passport

• Tuberculosis Risk Assessment or test results (form available in Human Resources)

• LiveScan form (available in Human Resources)

Once TB results are on file and fingerprints are cleared, the volunteer will be called to pick up a volunteer badge. This badge should be worn whenever the volunteer is on a school site or school sponsored trip. This badge indicates that a volunteer has been cleared and, once approved by the site for a volunteer opportunity, may be used at any site or program as evidence of clearance.
